Exhibition Opening / Mat Collishaw. Standing Water

Exhibition opening takes place on Tuesday, 10 April 2018 at 18:00 in the Rudolfinum hall.

The exhibition Standing Water interprets often traditional themes from the history of art, updated with modern-day context, which explore the vast possibilities of the media used. Mat Collishaw (*1966) is a key figure in the influential generation of British artists who became established in the late 1980s at Goldsmith’s College in London. The Prague exhibition shows his major works from all periods of his artistic career – from the 1990s until the present. His oeuvre is typical of deeper themes hiding beneath a visually attractive surface – they easily catch the viewer’s eye, whilst maintaining a high order of aesthetic quality. By bringing iconic works of art closer to today’s audiences, he pushes the reality of art and its representation into the realm of new context.
